Development and Validation of a Novel Control-Volume Model for the Injection Flow in a Variable Cycle Engine

The variable area bypass injector (VABI) plays a crucial role in cycle engines by regulating the flow mixing process complex ducts, and low-dimensional theoretical models are key to revealing its working mechanism while estimating aerodynamic performance. An improved VABI model using control volume method is established, through which feature parameters that determine performance summarized. To acquire an accurate prediction of injection ratio, calibration item introduced governing equations consider static pressure discrepancy on plane, numerical database developed obtain item. Results show include total backpressure, angle opening also influence characteristics. ratio increased reducing decreasing closing VABI.
